Frequently Asked Questions
How can I apply to be a musician at the festival?
Please see the Performer Information page to see application information.
How do I apply to be an artist at the festival?
Visit the Artists Page on our website for more information.
If I want to come for the weekend, where can I stay?
The Norwich area has a variety of overnight accommodations. You can check them out on our Visitors Page.
What is an Art Zone?
Art Zones are FREE creative workspaces inside tents that let you make cool things to take home. With the help of artsy volunteers and supplies provided by sponsors (thank you, Golden Artist Colors!), you can get creative. We have two Art Zones: one for children under the age of 10, and another for kids over age 10 and adults.
Is there a rain date?
No. No matter what the weather, Colorscape goes on! September usually graces us with lovely skies but when it doesn’t, we enjoy the Festival from under raincoats, waterproof ponchos, and umbrellas.
Can we bring our dogs?
Yes. The Festival is held in public parks where dogs are welcome. We do ask that you keep your pooch on a leash and observe all standard etiquette of dog ownership.
Where do we park?
You will find plenty of parking around the perimeter of the Festival, including many side streets and in front of the Chenango County office building.
Is there first aid available?
No. In an emergency please call 911. The Fire Department is next door to our festival grounds and they will respond promptly.
Can we bring a picnic?
Sure. There are picnic tables located in front of the Guernsey Memorial Library, adjacent to the Festival grounds. There is a grassy area behind the library, which is also a good place for napping if your family needs to take a break.
Where are the bathrooms?
We have plenty. Portable toilets can be found at the east end of East Park (behind the Main Stage), and at the west end of West Park (next to the courthouse). Handwashing stations are placed at both locations.
Is there food available?
Yes. We have a wonderful Culinary Court that offers everything from lunch/dinner to snacks to quick refreshment.
Is your festival handicapped accessible?
Yes. The Festival has much to offer to people with a variety of physical abilities: we are a full sensory experience! The parks themselves have wheel chair ramps from the street, plus level concrete sidewalks throughout. Where there are no sidewalks, the parks are kept mowed and level. Other destinations within the Festival grounds are easily reached by sidewalk. In addition, we have a reserved parking lot designated for Handicapped Parking. The portable bathrooms include Handicapped Accessible units.
When is this festival held?
Colorscape is always on the first weekend after Labor Day in September. It fills the whole weekend — both Saturday and Sunday.
Is this festival family friendly?
Absolutely. We have three performance stages, including the Art Zone Stage which features performances specifically geared toward kids. Kids’ Art Zone has activities for kids under the age of 10, and Golden Art Zone has activities for older kids and adults. Additionally, we often have magicians and puppeteers performing on the Festival grounds.
Is there an admission fee for the festival?
No! Admission to our beautiful parks is always FREE. These parks are home to three stages presenting two days worth of world-class live music, two arts activities tents, and over one hundred artists, all free of charge. We want you to save your money to bring home a beautiful piece of art!
